ABOUT HUNTINGDONSHIRE CRICKET
Huntingdonshire, although no longer a formal County, is one of 39 Cricket Boards approved to develop cricket by the England and Wales Cricket Board. It comprises of Clubs within Peterborough City Council and Huntingdonshire District Council as well as a number on its borders.
Huntingdonshire first had a County Cricket team in 1831 and as far back as the 1870s operated a youth team. More recently, following the reformation of the Huntingdonshire County Cricket Club in 1948, it has run senior and junior County teams.
An illustration of the growth of activities within the County can be gauged from the fact that in 1986 we operated three teams and had four qualified cricket coaches. From little acorns to mighty trees, the County will, in 2013, run fourteen county teams, three development sides involving 200 young people in youth representative squads and have over 100 active qualified cricket coaches.
